The Protect Ponta team is a group of dedicated volunteers who help treat and care for the animals in Southern Mozambique.
Everyone has their own skill set and together they make up a dynamic group which tangibly benefits these animals.
We are all volunteers - apart from our vets who are really the backbone of the project.
MEET THE TEAM
These are the crazy dog and cat peeps... and they are all just amazing!

SHANNON
Volunteer
Shannon is one of our founding members.
She lives in Hillcrest and is absolutely passionate about helping animals in need.
SANDY
Volunteer
Sandy lives in Ponta do Ouro and is basically our "eyes and ears" on the ground. She is an absolute animal angel and we couldn't do this without her.
LOIS
Volunteer
Lois lives in Pongola and is a regular visit to Ponta do Ouro. Although extremely squeamish at the clinics Lois manages our Facebook page and other areas of communication.
SARA
Vet
Sara helped pull this whole organisation together and was one of the original Vets we contacted. Her calm and gentle way with both animals and people is inspiring to watch.
VANESSA
Volunteer
Vanessa is from Cape Town. Her amazing family and friends are huge supporters of our cause and Van has spent many hours managing our clinics on the ground.
DANIEL
Volunteer
Daniel lives in Drummond and is our ‘Go-to-guy’! He is involved with many animal organisations (and is an Animal Behaviourist by Profession), with his fountain of knowledge we are really lucky to have him on the team.
NEIL
Volunteer
Neil is based in Umhloti and is crazy about cats! He is our cat catcher extraordinaire when dealing with ferals and he also runs Mozam Cats.

DEBBIE

Debbie lives in Ballito and has a beach house overlooking the Ponta bay. It’s not uncommon to find a couple of dogs sleeping on her deck. She is the dog de-wormer in Ponta!
MARTHA

Martha quietly gets things done in the background. She lives in Durban and is a regular visitor to Ponta. She has kindly hosted many of our vets and their assistants in her lovely home.

This amazing husband and wife team are doing incredible work in Mozambique. They are like a finely tuned machine and their quiet, gentle way brings calm to the craziest of clinics!

CARON
Volunteer
Caron is the other PP founding member. She lives in La Lucia and started PP with Shan after seeing the desperate condition the animals were in. She loves being involved in the clinics but hates fundraising so please just donate lots of money so she doesn't have to ask 😉
